Brain Tumour Research

What we fund and why

Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust’s Research Programme

Each year we spend around £1 million per year on top-quality research into brain tumours to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours. Our research programme is the largest of its kind in the UK. It covers all types of brain tumours and different areas of research, including understanding the biology of brain tumours in order to improve diagnosis and treatment, investigating quality of life issues, and clinical research into new and modified treatments. Our research programme is divided into five areas of focus: brain tumours in children and teenagers; high grade brain tumours; low grade brain tumours; research across brain tumour types; and research at Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust Centres of Excellence.

Our research grants are awarded only after a stringent review process involving experts in brain tumours from around the world. Through our research programme, we have achieved a number of breakthroughs and exciting findings, and we have an excellent track-record in selecting high quality projects to fund.
