SDBTT support service receives generous grant from the Big Lottery Fund

SDBTT is delighted to announce that we have received a very generous grant of £236,977 from the Big Lottery Fund for an England-wide support service for adults and children with brain tumours, their families and carers plus health professionals.

Lottery Funded

The grant will enable us to provide many different ways of supporting people including a free telephone helpline, email and online discussion groups, a series of patient-centred events, roadshows and provision of information.

Carly Hornbuckle, whose daughter Bella aged 5 has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, said: “The support provided to me by the Trust has been fantastic. I got a lot out of speaking to them while I was waiting for Bella’s scan results during a very traumatic time – it is great news that this grant will enable the Trust to support many more families who are going through the same experiences as we are.”

Paul Carbury, SDBTT Chief Executive, says: “We are delighted with the award from the Big Lottery Fund. The funding will enable us to significantly expand our services for the benefit of children and adults who have been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The project will enable more people to access our services so we can improve outcomes for patients.”

Well done Angela, Neil & team. I have only just heard about this award on the news this morning. As you know, I have been unable to attend the regular patient & carer meetings for various reasons. They are however of genuine & tangible value. I would welcome the opportunity to engage with the group again via other methods mentioned in your article … web forums & advice groups etc.
Sam still doing really well & has finally had his hair cut after a year of post chemotherapy growth!. Wishing you all the very best & if there is anything we can do to help, just let us know.

    Steve, Vicki, Sam & Matthew.
