Summit to launch Brain Tumour Awareness Month

Date: Wednesday 29th February, 2012
Abbey Conference Centre, 34 Great Smith Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3BU

This major new event will be taking place on Wednesday 29 February, 2.30pm-5.30pm followed by drinks reception. We hope that over 200 campaigners, clinicians, patients and politicians will join the Summit to mark the start of Brain Tumour Awareness Month which takes place in March. The event will focus on issues such as NICE’s improving outcomes guidance, early diagnosis, and brain and CNS tumour research funding, and leading speakers Prof David Walker, Prof Roy Rampling and Dr Garth Cruickshank have now been confirmed.

This follows a successful parliamentary event at the end of January where over 60 supporters attended an All Party Parliamentary Brain Tumour Group meeting at which Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley, lead a discussion about brain tumours, the new Health Bill, and diagnosis and treatment pathways. At the meeting, organised by the Brain Tumour Consortium in Westminster, supporters were able to ask questions and get involved in some interesting debates around the issues. You can read more about this event here.

We are pleased to be working on these two parliamentary events, which both represent great opportunities to ensure issues around brain tumours get the attention they deserve.

We hope to as many supporters as possible will be able to attend on the 29th February; for further details and to RSVP, please email chawkins@sdbtt.co.uk or phone 01252 749990 and speak to Clare Hawkins.
