Pedal Power in Cuba!

An intrepid team of 5 SDBTT supporters recently braved soaring temperatures, cratered roads, cold showers and poor plumbing in order to take on the challenge of “Cycle Cuba.” Over 220 miles were pedalled by each charity challenger over 5 days and, to date, over £11,000 has been raised by the team. A truly admirable effort!

Of course, there were highs and lows during the challenge but the camaraderie, team support and the jubilation and relief of completing the bike ride will be unforgettable for all involved! As Carole Dear, cycle challenger and Head of Finance for SDBTT,  summed it up, “It was pretty tough going most days but I was determined to get through it. Having the encouragement of the rest of the team played a big part in me achieiving my goal … and the thought of getting off my bike for the last time!”

A HUGE thank you to Team Cuba – Alistair Barnfield, Ian Barnfield, Carole Dear, Paul Frost and Ruth Sangale – and a special mention to Dan Suttle who was, unfortunately, not able to participate in the challenge but still raised £1,400 for SDBTT.
