New vaccine trial gives hope to glioblastoma patients (Tuesday 19th October 2010)
A new clinical trial to test a vaccine against glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has been launched at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow, and is set to take place in up to four further UK hospitals – specific sites are yet to be confirmed. A 10-year study has found no conclusive evidence that mobile phones cause brain tumours, despite recent comments in some newspapers.

Surgery tool shows route maps to brain (Thursday 13th May 2010)
A sat nav-style guidance system has given surgeons a precise route map deep inside the brain.
The technique, unveiled by Alder Hey children’s hospital, allows doctors to remove tumours and other abnormal tissue more safely. And for the first time in Europe, surgeons can also wheel their patient straight into an MRI scanner to double-check all diseased areas have been removed.
