The special memory wall designed and drawn by children from Ruby's school
Ruby’s life was taken from her by a high grade, inoperable brain stem glioma on
July 19th 2007.
Ruby was 4 years old on June 30th 2007.
We wish to raise money to fund medical research. Medical research, is the only way to fight back against this tumour that invaded Ruby’s body and took her Life. Much needs to be learned and new treatments found.
Ruby is our beautiful little butt
on. She adored nature, baking with her Daddy, adventure, thrills (the faster the fair ground rides the better!), chocolate and chips, pink princesses, spiderman and Scooby Do and any jokes about Poo!
Our hearts go out to all the families that have had to go through the pain of losing their child to this terrible disease.
We aim to start fundraising in 2008. We need to raise £100,000 in order to fund a medical research project.
You can make contact with us via the SDBTT Office – enquiries@sdbtt.co.uk or call 0845 130 9733.
Thank you.

Fundraising
December 2010
It’s been some time since the page has been updated, so there’s a bit of catching up to do!

I completed my bike ride across the USA in September 2009. It was a fantastic experience, there were some tough parts, both physically and mentally, but overall it was amazing. I cycled through miles and miles of wide open space, through forests, mountain ranges, lava flows, sun, rain and ice – from Yorktown, Virginia to Astoria, Oregon. The generosity of family, friends and complete strangers was a real eye-opener and I raised over £12,000 (including the Gift Aid) which was the important bit!
A Ruby Ball was held in Bingley, West Yorkshire, in October 2009, which was a resounding success – thanks to Beryl, Dot, Kevin, Zelda and Melanie for all their hard work. The night raised £3,300 – a superb amount for a single night’s fundraising. There was a tombola, a raffle and envelopes on the tables for people to make donations. The photo shows the resulting cheque being handed over to Paul Carbury from SDBTT.
In July 2010 we held another Cake Stall at the Beech Road Festival in Chorlton, Manchester, where once again we escaped the promised rain. About an hour into the afternoon I looked at what we had to sell and thought we would be eating the leftovers all the following week – there were so many cakes, buns, muffins and biscuits! Everyone who baked was obviously very skilled though as we raised over £1,200 and sold everything we had! Many thanks to all the bakers that day.
I’m now organising our next big event, a Ball to be held on Sunday 1st May 2011 at the Palace Hotel in Manchester. It is a fantastic venue, a Victorian beauty, full of character and a perfect setting for the event. The hotel has sponsored the drinks reception, and Virgin Holidays in Debenhams, Manchester is raising money over the coming months to provide a fantastic prize for the raffle. Keep visiting this page to find out what other prizes you could win on the night. If would like to attend, please contact me at mftbrady@gmail.com.
Ruby’s Fund now has over £48,000 in it, which is a great achievement. Thanks to everyone who has donated their time, ingredients, skills and, of course, their money. It really is appreciated.
Matt’s Enormous Bike Ride
Between July and late September 2009, Matt (Ruby’s dad) will be cycling the TransAmerica cycle route, from Yorktown, Virginia on the east coast of the USA to Astoria, Oregon on the west coast. This is a journey of over 4400 miles. The route encounters all kinds of scenery and terrain, including ocean coastline, lush forests, high desert, mountain passes, snow-capped peaks, sweeping vistas, expansive plains, fertile farmlands, rolling hills, wide rivers and some very long, flat boring bits. At this early stage he is planning that the trip will take approximately 60 days…this could change depending how the training goes and how comfortable the bike seat is! The trip will be unsupported – i.e. Matt will be travelling alone and carrying all his equipment with him. Nights will be spent either in a cheap motel, in a tent or if the weather and wildlife permits, under the stars.
He has previously cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats, raising money for the Prostate Cancer Charity. Sadly it was whilst Matt was undertaking that bike ride that Ruby showed the early symptoms of her brain tumour, although this wasn’t diagnosed for a further 8 weeks. Ruby died 3 weeks after the diagnosis.
Matt is hoping to be able to find sponsorship to cover some of the costs of the ride – such as flights, a tent, panniers etc – as well as raising a large sum of money for SDBTT. Any donations or assistance will be very gratefully received. Please click here to make a donation via Matt’s Justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/mattbrady. Matt can be reached via the Trust or at mftbrady@gmail.com

Christmas Card Savings
Many thanks to staff at Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College (Learning Support Department), who kindly donated £97 to the Fund in lieu of sending Christmas Cards across the department last year.
