SDBTT Umbrella and Friends Groups allow our supporters to fundraise towards our work in the name of a loved one. Although the creation of any Group is often under difficult circumstances, the successes that they bring to SDBTT are incredible. We have over 70 Umbrella and Friends Groups up and down the country, all recognising the importance of raising money to fund brain tumour research and provide support to patients and their carers.
Our Groups are achieveing greater success in their fundraising activities than ever before and are making a huge contribution to our record income. A huge thank you to all of the Groups, and everyone who has skydived, run a marathon, held a ball, or done anything else that you care to imagine to raise funds for one of these inspiring Groups. Well done to you all!

Umbrella Group Days

We held another very successful Umbrella Group Day at University College London on 29th January 2010. The event began with a buffet lunch and a chance for Groups to meet and share their personal experiences.
Groups were thanked for all their fundraising efforts by Paul Carbury, Chief Executive, and attendees were treated to personal talks from Angela and Neil Dickson, Founder Trustees.
Prof. Denise Sheer of Queen Mary, University of London reported on the recent findings in her lab made possible by SDBTT funding, and Prof. David Walker of the University of Nottingham updated the group on the early diagnosis campaign that is being run in collaboration with SDBTT.
Guests were then invited to a tour of the Samantha Dickson Brain Cancer Unit at UCL, guided by Prof. Paolo Salomoni and Dr Steven Pollard, who lead the research there.
We were inundated with messages of thanks after the event from attendees who had found the day both inspiring and supportive.
This was our second Umbrella Group Day – you can read about the first one here.
We look forward to the next Umbrella Group Day and would like to thank everyone who was able to attend on this occasion.
